Before Smart Cars, before Smart Homes, before Smart TV even, there was the electric toothbrush. And yet you’re still going manual?

A manual toothbrush may seem a simple choice, but just like disposable razors, you need to think about the impact you’re having on your body and the environment.

A disposable razor is a low-risk investment, at worst you’ll get a few nicks. But a toothbrush is a whole other story.

Of course, you’ve learned to floss and you have your routine down, but did you know that your toothpaste is probably letting you down, no matter how vigilantly you brush? The average toothpaste is only capable of protecting your mouth with a thin coating and doesn’t go past your gum line, where the real issue lies.

Unless you are brushing with a dental solution like Dental Pro 7, you are really only scraping the surface of the issue. When it comes to your mouth, you need to pay close attention to the all-over health of the ecosystem that is your oral hygiene.

When you combine a dental solution with an electric toothbrush, you are able to give your mouth the attention it deserves. Sure, an electric toothbrush is an investment, but when you think about how often you switch out your toothbrushes and then multiply that through your whole family, you are left with a considerable dent in plastic waste.

With just one electric toothbrush handle you can make sure that you and your family are getting the best oral health you can get. That, coupled with the Dental Pro 7, can save you hundreds in dentist bills, or even surgery.

If you’re a first-time electric toothbrush user the Oral B Pro 6000 supports your switch just like any smart device. If you are a long-time user, get ready for the most support you’ve ever had from a toothbrush.

Brand

Oral B are leaders in the industry. Sounds fluffy, but it’s true. With their own line of brushes, products, and software, there really isn’t a scope of dental hygiene that they haven’t touched.

Oral B is the number one dentist-approved toothbrush, in the world. Of course, they’re also approved by the American Dental Association, just in case there were any questions.

If that does not make for industry leaders, I don’t know what does.

One of the first innovators of the electric toothbrush, Oral B has been redeveloping their products to keep up with a growing market. Let’s see what’s in store with the Oral B 6000?

Oral B + Braun

Oral B became a part of Procter & Gamble family back in 2006. Under P&G group, Oral B became paired with Braun.

You might know Braun for their razors, yes, I’m talking about razors again. Braun are leaders when it comes to portable grooming and healthcare technologies.

As they are already leaders in their market, the pairing of both Oral B and Braun make for a top range product, having the market on consumer needs and advanced technology.

Key Features

  • Fast Charge Battery

The Oral B Pro 6000 Will boot up to full charge in a matter of minutes.

  • Design

The design of the Pro 6000 is just slightly larger than the 5000, but it has a more tactile surface. This could make for a better grip, but really is just a matter of preference.

  • The App
  • Interchangeable Head
  • The Package

The App

The app prides itself on focusing, motivating, tracking, and sensing your oral hygiene interactions. Like all smart devices, you will get what you put into the app.

All your goals are covered, you’ve got: gum care mode, whitening mode, deep clean mode, and more. This way the app can focus you, sending you updates and time frames to help you achieve your healthiest mouth, and avoid long term dental issues.

You won’t even feel the brushing time as the app fills you in on news and weather, pulsing every 30 seconds to let you know it is time to move your focus.

When two minutes are up, the recommended brushing time, it will pulse three times. All the while, the pressure sensor will let you know when your brushing is at optimum pressure.

It’s 2019 and you have an app for everything. Your Oral B toothbrush has evolved into a smart device ready to simplify your life and help you achieve your goals.

Oral B Pro 5000 vs Oral B Pro 6000

The 5000 is slightly slimmer, if that’s important to you, but that’s really where the comparison ends. Oral B has really upped the ante with the Pro 6000 in almost every way, so much so that they basically applied all of the Pro 6000 features to newer model Pro 5000.

Noticeable differences: the battery life is increased by about 3 days, bringing total battery life to 10 days without charge. Not the highest on the market, but still an improvement.

The Pro 6000 comes standard with the smart-guide, as well as the additional floss-action head. Things that they started including in the Pro 5000 in the past few years.

Because these are additional features and have no bearing on the model itself, it seems like it was easy for them to just throw in what they saw was working.

Oral B Pro 6000 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Bluetooth
  • Pressure sensor
  • Timer
  • Fast battery charge
  • Interchangeable Head
  • Detail and goal-oriented

Cons

  • Battery Life – the battery life could go further.
  • Chunky design – not ideal for small spaces.
  • Not travel-friendly – the docking station, relatively short battery life, and all over largeness of the toothbrush does not make it ideal for travel.

Conclusion

Oral B just keeps upping their ante. It seems that they will only continue to evolve with the market and produce state of the art products.

Again, this is not my pick if you’re a frequent traveler, but there is no doubt in my mind that this is a great family toothbrush. Something you can rely on and keep as a staple in the bathroom.
