What is it that Moo Review does?
Moo Review examines products in a fun and hands on way, helping you make the best decision possible when buying products.
How do you choose what items to review?
How we choose what to review is pretty simple and involves a couple of steps:
Watch for press releases from companies about new products – We don’t want to review an old model of a product, or review a product that is going to be updated in a few weeks.
Speak to experts – We discuss with experts either on the phone, through email, forums and even Reddit to get a good idea of commonly used products in a category.
Go to the shops – Pretty simple, we run down the store aisles excitedly, giggling with glee when we get to the product section to see what’s on display.
Not the most complicated procedure, but it does take time. But hey, you’re worth it!
How do you determine what tests to do?
We look at each product and determine how it will be used. We then perform tests based on how you would use the product.
Example: A mobile phone. One particular test may be a drop test (see how the phone fairs after falling to the ground). This would be a useful test for a phone because it is held in your hand when used. However, a drop test would be pretty useless on a product which is not designed to be carried around.
We perform the right tests for the right products to help you understand whether or not a product is right for your situation.
How long does each review take to write?
Because we actually take the time to fiddle with each product and get to know it intimately, a lot of time is spent on each review.
Each review takes us 20 -200 human hours to create. Which is way more than most places spend on their recommendations (some websites actually review products without even physically touching each product).
Why do we spend all this time? Because we want you to trust us enough that you could recommend us to your friends and family.
We understand that this is an incredibly difficult challenge but by continuing to offer honest and reliable reviews we believe will be able to achieve this lofty goal.
How do you determine what product is the best?
At Moo Review, we understand what is best for one individual may not be right for another.
Some of you may want a good looking product to put on display in your home while others may not care about looks but just want the best value for money. Some of you may even want a bigger or smaller size.
Since “best” means something different to each and every one of you we list different options of each product so that you can choose the appropriate one for your lifestyle.
At the end of the day while you can argue looks and features, there are two thing’s that everyone agrees on. And that’s quality and value. All our recommendations will tick both of these boxes.
Why don’t your photos have backgrounds?
All our products are shot on a white background. We find that this allows you to better focus on the product without being distracted by messy backgrounds.
What if I disagree with you?
That could happen. Every single one of you is different and that’s what makes you awesome (can you imagine if we were all identical? Boring!).
As a result there will definitely be some of you that disagree with our product choices or ratings.
And that’s great!
Why?
Because it gives you an opportunity to get involved. In the comments section below each review let us know your findings. Tell us why you disagree and what we can do better. Not only do we take all of your advice on board but you will also help other readers.
And at the end of the day that’s what we are all about. Helping our readers. Because without each and every one of you guys, we wouldn’t exist.
How do you make money?
As you read through our reviews you will notice links directly to websites where you can purchase the item that we review.
These links help support our website, and allow us to provide you with amazing reviews without charging you a subscription fee or shoving ugly pop up advertisements in your face. You don’t want that and neither do we.
To put it simply, the money earned from these links is a finders fee. When you click through one of our links and purchase the product, the company will pay us for directing you to their website. Don’t buy the product? We make a big fat zero.
We don’t believe you should have to pay to be able to access amazing information and these links help keep all of our reviews free for all of you to enjoy.
But doesn’t doesn’t this create a bias towards affiliate products
While this may be the case on many other “affiliate websites”, our goal is a long play. We want you to trust us and picking a product that sucks is not the way to do this.
We feel that using affiliates is perhaps the most honest way of doing a review website (except for doing it for free, but we have hungry families to feed). If you buy our recommendation, decide it sucks and return it, we make zero dollars.
That’s right, we make nothing whatsoever. The only thing that will happen if we recommend a product that sucks is that we lose a reader. And we don’t want that.
We want to be someone you would be happy to take home to meet your parents. And we will work darn hard to achieve that.
What really makes this website work
You do.
You make this review site work.
By writing questions in the comments section, pointing out errors or just sending good old fashioned hate mail; it is you, dear reader that keeps this website chugging along and churning out those awesome reviews that you love to read so much.
So thank you. We know that you can read different review websites but you came here. And that makes you awesome.
