1. Conair 1875 Watt Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer

Product Highlights

The Conair 1875 Watt Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer features Smart voltage technology, which means that it has automatic dual voltage. You do not have to set the voltage manually.

When it is plugged in and turned on, it automatically senses foreign voltage and alters its voltage to match while remaining in sync with your heat and speed settings.
It also features Ionic technology for smooth, shiny hair.

And it is a compact size hairdryer with a folding arm, which makes it perfect for travel.

Features

  • Smart voltage
  • Folding handle
  • Ionic conditioning

What We Like About Conair Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer

The Smart voltage technology on the Conair 1875 Watt Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer works flawlessly all over the world. It is able to detect the voltage internationally and automatically adjust while remaining on your blow dryer settings.

This hair dryer is a mid-size compact hairdryer, but it is very lightweight. If you have shorter hair on the thinner side, this hair dryer could be a fantastic option for your international travel needs.

What We Don’t Like About Conair Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer

Unfortunately, the Conair 1875 Watt Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer suffers from a lack of airflow. The airstream isn’t the most powerful, and the heat isn’t as hot as it could be, so it takes longer to dry your hair.

Also, the short cord is a problem because often when you’re traveling, there’s only one bathroom you probably have to share, which means you might have to blowdry your hair in a common area where a mirror isn’t conveniently within five feet of an outlet.

PROS

  • 2 speed and 3 heat settings
  • Comes with a concentrator attachment
  • Automatic dual voltage means no converter is needed
  • Compact size is great for travel

CONS

  • Doesn’t come with a diffuser or pick attachment
  • An adapter is still necessary
  • The cord is a bit short, 5 feet

2. DAN Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer

41fR+k 7HOS. SL500

Product Highlights

The DAN Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer is ultra-compact and ultra-lightweight. It is under one pound and fits in the palm of your hand in its folded state (yes, the arm of the hairdryer folds).

This hair dryer will take up virtually no space in your luggage and will probably be one of the lightest weighing blow dryers you have ever used in your life.
DAN Technology is kind enough to include a two-pin EU plug adaptor in the box, so you don’t need to buy one if you’re traveling internationally to Canada, Japan, and Europe (except the UK).

However, you will need to procure an adaptor for other international travels, such as Egypt, the UK, Australia, etc.

Features

  • 1200W DC motor
  • Dual voltage
  • Compact and lightweight

What We Like About the Dan Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer

The DAN Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer has a powerful 1200W DC motor that dries hair very quickly.

The most pleasant surprise with this hairdryer is how nice the diffuser is. This blow dryer is actually fantastic for kinky and curly hair textures, which is a very welcome surprise from a travel blow dryer.

The diffuser is deep, which allows lots of curls to fall inside and receive heat and scrunching. The diffuser also has many relatively small holes that enable air to flow throughout the diffuser without making hair frizzy.

What We Don’t Like About the Dan Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer

Depending on what country you’re in, the DAN Technology D29 Compact Hair Dryer can tend to overheat, and then you have to wait for it to cool off before you can use it again, which is a bummer.

The change in voltage is not the only thing that matters when using appliances while traveling abroad, but also the speed of oscillation. It seems that DAN Technology perhaps did not get the oscillation part right.

A potential remedy for this is simply using the hairdryer with a converter.

PROS

  • Comes with a diffuser and a concentrator attachment
  • Comes with a 2 pin EU plug adaptor
  • Blow dryer handle folds
  • It’s a mini hair dryer

CONS

  • No ionic technology
  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • No cool shot button

3. HOT TOOLS Signature Series 1875W Ionic Travel Hair Dryer

41lPv4ZPe6L. SL500

Product Highlights

The HOT TOOLS Signature Series 1875W Ionic Travel Hair Dryer is lightweight, weighing in at only one pound.

It features Direct ionic technology to reduce frizziness and leave you post-blow dry with shiny, healthy hair. Direct ionic technology also helps to dry hair faster.
This ceramic hair dryer also emits infrared heat to seal the hair’s cuticle, further preventing frizz and creating shiny, healthy-looking hair.

Features

  • 1875W motor
  • Direct ionic technology
  • Infrared technology
  • Universal dual voltage

What We Like About Hot Tools Signature Series Travel Hair Dryer

The HOT TOOLS Signature Series 1875W Ionic Travel Hair Dryer is a very-yyy powerful hairdryer. It blows very hard and gets very hot, which can be both a positive and a negative.

If you have very long, very thick hair, you might just fall in love with this blow dryer because it packs a punch. If you have short hair or hair on the thinner side, this may not be your jam.

Either way, we love the Direct ionic technology and the use of infrared heat to dry hair more quickly, reduce frizz, and smooth and shine the hair.

What We Don’t Like About Hot Tools Signature Series Travel Hair Dryer

The HOT TOOLS Signature Series 1875W Ionic Travel Hair Dryer has a problem many other travel hair dryers do not: it gets too hot. You have to stop and pull it away from your head several times while using it because it’s burning your scalp.

Why not just use the cool shot, you ask? Well, that only decreases the temperature by about fifty percent. It’s not a proper cool shot; you definitely don’t get cool air. It’s warm air at best—less hot air.

Also, it may be lightweight, but it’s really not that small. It’s a tad smaller than full-size blow dryers; we’ll give it that. But even in its folded state, it’s not saving you that much space in your luggage; it just fits in a different-shape spot.

PROS

  • Blow dryer handle folds
  • Comes with diffuser and concentrator attachments
  • Lightweight
  • 6-foot swivel cord

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • Only 1875W
  • Adaptor still necessary

4. Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer

41SjGzPpXeL. SL500

Product Highlights

The Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer doesn’t have all the bells and whistles many of the other blow dryers have, like smart voltage, direct ionic technology, ceramic infrared heat technology, etc. However, it prides itself on being the safest dual voltage travel blow dryer for your family.

The ETL certification and ALCI plug ensure that your family will be safe while using the Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer.

ETL is a safety standard set by Intertek, which is a testing lab part of OSHA. Their goal is to make sure products meet many standards, the most relevant being health and safety standards.

Features

  • 1875W DC motor
  • Dual voltage
  • Blow dryer handle folds

What We Like About Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer

We love that the Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer is such a safe dual voltage hair dryer, with its ETL certification and ALCI plug.

We also like how quickly this blow dryer dries hair. Not every travel blow dryer has enough power to dry a whole head of hair quickly; this one does.

What We Don’t Like About Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer

The Berta Dual Voltage Blow Dryer is a great hairdryer, but it tends to lose power over time. Slowly, over months of use, it loses its oomph in heat and airflow.

However, their customer service is very friendly and helpful if you experience this problem.

PROS

  • 5.9-foot cord
  • Comes with a concentrator attachment
  • Blow dryer handle folds
  • Cool shot button

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • Doesn’t come with a diffuser
  • No ionic technology

5. Revlon 1875W Compact+ Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer

41ce2vCkQdL. SL500

Product Highlights

The Revlon 1875W Compact + Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer is a compact mini hair dryer that features ionic and triple ceramic technology. What’s really special about this blow dryer’s ionic technology is that there’s a switch on the back for a high ionic setting or low ionic setting.

This tiny blow dryer will barely take up any space in your luggage; its dimensions are 4” x 6” x 9”; that’s why they call it the Compact +. You might bring it home and start using it as your every-day blow dryer because it fits so compactly under your sink.

Features

  • 1875W motor
  • Ionic technology
  • Triple ceramic technology

What We Like About Revlon 1875W Compact+ Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer

A small random thing we noticed about the Revlon 1875W Compact+ Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer that we really like is that there are little rubber pads on the sides of the hairdryer that act as grips to keep it from falling off the counter. That was a very nice feature for Revlon to add on a blow dryer, and it’s something we’ve never seen before.

While we have some complaints about the low and high settings in general, we found that the low setting in European voltage is stronger than it is otherwise. And it created a perfect medium between the too high-high and the too low-low.
If you happen to be traveling to Europe, that could be helpful information.

What We Don’t Like About Revlon 1875W Compact+ Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer

On the high setting, the Revlon 1875W Compact + Folding Handle Travel Hair Dryer is extremely loud and way too hot. On the low setting, it doesn’t get hot enough-it’s actually pretty cool.

This is a common problem we see amongst blow dryers with only two heat/speed settings. When your only options are low and high: low speed and cool/warm air or high speed and hot air, there’s always going to be an issue.

Blow dryers simply need at least two-speed settings and three heat settings. That way, if you want high speed but medium heat, you can get your hair dried fast and not burn your scalp in the process.

PROS

  • Comes with a concentrator attachment
  • 6-foot cord
  • Lightweight
  • Very compact

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • Doesn’t come with a diffuser or pick attachment
  • An adaptor is still necessary

6. BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer

31kt3aW0WDL. SL500

Product Highlights

The BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer weighs in at 9.6 ounces and fits in the palm of your hand. Not whisper quiet, but it’s pretty quiet for a blow dryer: less than 90 decibels.

The Nano Titanium Travel Dryer has a foldable handle and dual voltage, making it the perfect choice for international travel.

Features

  • 1000W DC motor
  • Dual voltage
  • Lightweight

What We Like About BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer

The BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer is a very powerful mini hairdryer. It gets the job done fast, and we like that. Even on the low setting, it’s quite robust.

We also like how incredibly compact this blow dryer is. It fits nicely into any bag you need to put it in. You can store it easily pretty much anywhere.

And talk about quiet-finally a blow dryer that doesn’t disturb everybody on the same floor as you!

What We Don’t Like About BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer

The BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Travel Dryer can, on some occasions, have some of the overheating problems. The overheating issues don’t seem to be that bad.

PROS

  • Foldable handle
  • Small and compact
  • 1000W motor
  • Quiet

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • No ionic technology
  • The cord is a bit short, 6-feet

7. T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer

315 TVjAQGS. SL500

Product Highlights

The T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer is a high-tech, compact full-size, travel blow dryer that features IonAir technology that infuses negative ions into a wide and gentle airstream to smooth the hair cuticle and speed up drying.

Everything about this blow dryer is sleek and high tech, from the button design to the design of the prongs on the plug. The prongs fit into the dual voltage slot and are the tool you use to switch voltages.

Its voltage is 125V. Thanks to its compact design, the Fit is 30% smaller and 20% lighter than a full-size hair dryer, but it’s big on performance!

Features

  • 1600W motor
  • Small and lightweight
  • IonAir technology

What We Like About T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer

The T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer dries hair very quickly, even on the low setting. It makes hair soft and oh so very smooth, silky soft and smooth. IonAir technology is amazing.

It is a pricey blow dryer, and it does have its problems, but a lot of women swear by it, and this might be the reason why.

We also like that it’s a compact full-size blow dryer. Many people don’t care for the mini blow dryers, so we appreciate the variety of having a blow dryer made in a full-size compact.

What We Don’t Like About T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer

The concentrator nozzle does not stay attached to the T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer; it’s constantly popping off. It’s a shame for a blow dryer this pricey to not have accessories attached sturdily.

We also found that the original full-size T3 is a stronger blow dryer than this T3 Micro T3 Fit Ionic Compact Hair Dryer. This new model just doesn’t match up to the original.

PROS

  • 1600W motor
  • Long-life motor
  • Comes with a concentrator attachment
  • Designed with 3 heat and 2 speed settings

CONS

  • Expensive
  • The cord is too long, 9-feet
  • Doesn’t come with a diffuser or pick attachment

8. Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer

41ElsGZtsYL. SL500

Product Highlights

The Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer is a lightweight, dual voltage, salon hair dryer featuring direct ionic technology.

It weighs in at less than a pound, is pretty in purple, and bears the trusted Hot Tools name. Being a Hot Tools hair dryer, it comes with quality attachments and has a design built with the home-stylist in mind.

Features

  • 1875W motor
  • Direct ion technology
  • Dual voltage

What We Like About Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer

The Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer is a fantastic hair dryer for curly hair and it even performs at the level of some of the expensive, luxury blow dryers on this list.

The diffuser that comes with this blow dryer is quite nice. It has lots of small holes for air to come through, but not make hair frizzy. And it also has finger-like prongs to reach deep into the hair and diffuse the middle and the roots.

What We Don’t Like About Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer

We have a few main complaints about the Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer.

This blow dryer is too hot, even on the cool setting. It’s just a scorcher of a blow dryer, very powerful and very hot.

Beware, if you have long hair, this blow dryer may suck your hair into the back vent, and that’s not a good day for anyone.

PROS

  • Comes with a diffuser and concentrator attachment
  • Blow dryer handle folds
  • 6-foot cord
  • Lightweight

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • Only the low setting works internationally
  • An adaptor is stil necessary

9. Conair Travel Smart

31akOU1CnoL. SL500

Product Highlights

The Conair Travel Smart comes from the Conair line of international travel appliances and items. It is sleek, compact, lightweight, and dual voltage.

It will easily fit in your luggage and barely take up any room at all, and it is incredibly lightweight, so it won’t put your luggage over the weight limit.

You have to think about so many things when you’re traveling internationally; Conair built this blow dryer so that drying your hair is one thing you don’t have stress over.

Features

  • 1200W motor
  • Dual voltage
  • Lightweight

What We Like About Conair Travel Smart

The Conair Travel Smart is tiny; it fits in the palm of your hand, but it’s powerful, and it dries hair super fast. We would even say that it dries hair just as quickly as full-size home dryers do.

As long as you make sure it’s in the correct settings, you’ll get a lot of punch out of this blow dryer, and it will definitely get your hair dry fast.

What We Don’t Like About Conair Travel Smart

We have two complaints about the Conair Travel Smart.

Only the low setting can be used internationally, so if you need to use the high setting to blowdry your hair, you’re out of luck.

If you have long hair, your hair may get sucked up into the back vent, just like with the Hot Tools Professional 1875W Lightweight Ionic Travel Dryer.

PROS

  • Comes with a concentrator attachment
  • Blow dryer handle folds
  • Compact

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • Doesn’t come with a diffuser or pick attachment
  • An adaptor is still necessary

10. Stylecraft PeeWee Dryer

41TjUv4CQ8L. SL500

Product Highlights

The Styecraft PeeWee Dryer is a mini blow dryer that fits in the palm of your hand. It’s lightweight, compact, and will fit anywhere you need to put it.

This blow dryer only has a 1000W motor, but it features Tri-Plex Fusion technology, which gives it some drying power boost.

Features

  • 1000W motor
  • Dual voltage
  • Tri-Plex Fusion technology

What We Like About Stylecraft PeeWee Dryer

We are really impressed with the Tri-Plex Fusion technology in the Stylecraft PeeWee Dryer. Tri-Plex Fusion technology is a proprietary blend of tourmaline, ceramic, and nano keratin technologies.

These technologies blended together provide reduced frizz, a silky finish, and overall health of the hair.

What We Don’t Like About Stylecraft PeeWee Dryer

The Stylecraft PeeWee dryer tends to get too hot-way too hot; melt the attachments hot. That’s not good at all.

We’ve seen this same old song with all of these blow dryers with the two heat/speed settings, not a new complaint.

PROS

  • Comes with a diffuser and concentrator attachment
  • Comes with a storage bag
  • The blow dryer handle folds
  • Attachments are high quality

CONS

  • Only 2 heat/speed settings
  • The cord is too long, 8 feet
  • An adaptor is still needed

Buyer’s Guide

What is a Dual Voltage Hair Dryer?

Some countries run on 125V power, and others run on 250V power. You cannot use appliances built for 125V power in a country that runs on 250V power.

Certain appliances are built especially for international travel, made with dual voltage. Dual voltage means you can manually switch the appliance’s voltage to match the voltage of the country in which you are residing.

Some appliances have smart voltage and can automatically detect the voltage level from the electrical outlet and auto-adjust themselves to the correct voltage to match.

However, this is not a standard feature amongst international travel appliances. Most appliances are manual dual voltage appliances, and you have to adjust them yourself.

Final Verdict

So what’s our final verdict? Which is our pick to keep your hair cute in those Instagram pics on your international trip?

The best international travel hairdryer is number 1, the Conair 1875 Watt Worldwide Travel Hair Dryer. We like this hair dryer for several of its essential features.

First, and most pertinently, it’s a 1875W smart voltage hair dryer, so you can use it internationally without a voltage converter, and it has a powerful motor even though it is a mini hairdryer.

We love that even though it has that powerful 1875W motor, it’s still incredibly lightweight at just one pound. And that powerful motor runs very quietly, under 90 decibels.

The genius of this motor’s design allows it to dry hair more quickly than many of the other blow dryers; even on its low setting, it dries hair faster than we’ve seen a lot of other models accomplish.

For the DAN Technology D29 1200W Mini Hair Dryer to be as budget-friendly as it is and still out-perform the luxury blow dryers on our list, well, that’s pretty impressive.
