The Jiffy J-2000 – Commercial Power at Household Prices

The J-2000 is consistently rated as one of the best garment steamer options on the market today, and having used one for a while I cannot tell you how happy I am with it!

It was everything I was looking for (and then some) – a genuine alternative to ironing.

It helps keep my clothes looking fresh and new – and my ironing board has been banished to a distant wardrobe.

I’m afraid I’ve become an evangelist for this product!

Initial impressions

At first blush, the J-2000 Jiffy doesn’t look all that futuristic or that modern – but don’t underestimate what this particular unit brings to the table.

Minimalist in nature, this particular garment steamer looks pretty retro – it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Looks aside, it delivers the kind of power and performance you’d expect from a premium product.

With 1300 W of steaming power and a three-quarter gallon reservoir, you’re going to be able to steam garments for upwards of an hour and a half.

(The J-4000 has a bigger capacity more suitable for commercial use. See below for a more detailed comparison of the J-2000 vs J-4000.)

Not only that, but it also heats up in just two minutes, giving you almost instant access to all of the steaming capabilities that it affords. (The J-4000 takes much longer.)

Overall design

The overall design of this system is pretty simple and straightforward.

The reservoir is down at the bottom of the unit, and connected to that is a tremendously flexible steam hose that eliminates leaks but provides top-tier performance.

The water gets hot and comes out of the nozzle as steam, which gently eases wrinkles out of fibers.

Connect it to the available accessories (most of them well worth investing in) to get even more use out of it.

Functionality

The 6-inch steam head emits a constant stream of steam, which makes short work of any thin fabrics. Wrinkled blouses don’t stay wrinkled for very long – with a pass or two of the head, they will vanish.

For heavier fabrics you’ll need to go a bit slower and maybe re-cover the same ground a couple of times. It’s really almost effortless and much more pleasurable than ironing.

You’ll be able to tackle shirts, coats, blazers, pants, and even bedclothes with this steamer and not see any letdown in power, performance, or production.

Pros

  • 1300 W solid brass heating element heats three-quarter gallon reservoir in less than two minutes
  • 1.5 hours of continuous steam time
  • Weighs in at just 18 pounds (when filled with water)
  • Extremely durable – much more than cheaper options

Cons

  • A little bit pricey compared to some of the other premier options
  • Isn’t quite as “modern” appearing as some of the other solutions available today

Final Verdict

All things considered, if you’ve ever looked at a pile of ironing and your heart sank, you’d honestly have to be at least a bit crazy not to want to get your hands on this fantastic piece of equipment. It’ll change your life for the better!

The J-2000 Jiffy garment steamer is one of the best in the business, is trusted by professionals, and it certainly lives up to its reputation in my experience.
