The WASSA unit offers a stylish chrome finish and is an inexpensive way to update your bathroom and improve shower quality.
The filter and jets prevent the buildup of lime, calcium, and hard water deposits. These kinds of buildup can negatively impact your shower head’s performance, disrupting smooth water flow and desirable pressure, and in some cases causing leaks.

The 3-inch head is large enough to accommodate the 45 jets but compact enough to be able to direct the water flow to the area that you want it. The WASSA is a powerhouse that creates a powerful spray even in areas with low water pressure.
WASSA also offers a lifetime satisfaction guarantee, so if anything goes wrong, you can reach out to customer support for a refund or replacement.
Buyer’s Guide
Fixed vs. Handheld Showerhead
Some consumers prefer the flexibility of a handheld unit, while others worry that the hose on a handheld showerhead won’t stand the test of time.
Fixed heads traditionally mount on the wall, but some rainfall or waterfall models mount from the ceiling (note: that installation would require a plumber).
Rainfall and waterfall shower heads are fixed, too, but they are wider in diameter. The smaller in diameter a showerhead is, the stronger the pressure. A wider diameter results in a weaker pressure.
It is a personal preference whether you want the blast of water pressure (smaller head) or relaxing gentle droplets (wider head).
Cost
Sometimes it is worth investing a little more in the showerhead if it will save money on your water or energy bill. And when you use less water and energy, you also help the Earth and reduce your carbon footprint.
Adjustable Neck and Settings
For some consumers, it is important to be able to tilt the shower flow to accommodate height and comfort. Also, multiple stream settings could be a priority for families who have varying water pressure preferences.
A handheld showerhead accommodates people who are trying to bathe children or pets and is also useful for those recovering from injury or surgery, as well as for older adults who might need to sit in the shower.
The handheld showerhead is also good for rinsing off shampoo or hair dye.
Where you Live Might Matter
The state of California has strict regulations on maximum water output – 1.8 gpm (gallons per minute.) The U.S. federal maximum is 2.5 gpm.
Expert Tips
Teflon Tape
Also called plumber’s tape or sealant tape, this is an essential item for preventing leaks. The tape fills the pipe threads in addition to fitting threads with a sealant that prevents leaking. All the products we reviewed come with Teflon tape included, but it is also available separately. Here’s a video showing how to install the sealant tape.
Soap
One manufacturer suggests going over the threads with a bar of soap prior to installation. That could prevent leaks on your fancy new shower head.
Avoiding Hose Breakage
A number of consumers complained of hose breaks on the handheld showerheads. One consumer suggests that a gradual reduction of water pressure before turning the shower off completely will cause less trauma to the hose and extend its life.
Flow Restrictors
Many of the shower heads that we reviewed come with flow restrictors that limit the amount of water that flows. In some cases, these flow restrictors can be removed. Keep in mind that removing the flow restrictor will create a much harder water flow that some might find uncomfortable to the skin. Removal of the flow restrictor will also affect water-saving features.
Standard Size
In the United States, the standard size for a shower head pipe is ½”, so if your shower head pipe is ¾”, you may need a bushing adapter.
FAQs
Do All Shower Heads Fit Any Shower?
Shower heads can vary greatly regarding style. However, most tend to be the same size. Thread size, that is. A shower head’s thread size determines if the end will fit into your shower’s pipe.
All newly or recently manufactured shower heads in the USA will fit the NPT (National Pipe Thread), which is ½ inch NPT. Although it’s a USA standard, it’s also been adopted throughout most of North America, including Canada.
They have a standard called BSP (British Standard Pipe) in Europe, which is also ½ inch BSP. Even though it’s referred to differently, the standard size for shower head pipes is the same for most of North America and Europe. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Asia have also adopted this largely universal sizing.
The only exceptions are older shower heads in older homes or ordering shower heads from obscure companies. Otherwise, any shower head you order should fit in your shower just fine!
Is A Square Or Round Shower Head Better?
Square and round shower heads both work nicely in a shower, but they do have distinct differences.
Square shower heads are typically made from stronger materials such as stainless steel, while round showerheads are usually made from plastic. Square shower heads tend to be more expensive because of this.
Round shower heads have a larger pipe that connects them to your water pipes; this allows them to have more water flow and pressure. A square showerhead will likely have lighter water pressure.
All factors considered, both are good options. It comes down to price and water pressure preferences. Square options have a more modern look to them and round ones have a classic look.
Do All Shower Heads Have Flow Restrictors?
Flow restrictors are built into most shower heads in order to reduce water flow. In the USA, manufacturers are required to build these into all their showerheads unless they make their shower heads able to set and control their own water flow.
Because they reduce water flow, they also reduce water usage, which can help save money on water bills. Some people like to remove them if their water pressure is too low for their liking; however, this isn’t recommended.
